Beetles are as alien to humans as can be. The most obvious difference from humans is their body structure: arthropods have an exoskeleton that protects them and makes them waterproof.

One reason for the success of beetles is their ability to eat almost anything. For this, arthropods possess complex mouthparts, consisting of chewing-biting mandibles and palps for tasting.

From full-body massages to fierce rivalries – while the mating season in the beetle kingdom is a sensual experience for some arthropods, others risk their lives in the process.

In nature, nothing is wasted. This is ensured primarily by beetles, who conscientiously carry out their task as a recycling team – whether it’s disposing of dead animals or decaying plants.

Small but mighty. Over time, beetles have developed numerous methods to protect themselves from predators – from bright warning colors and foul odors to deadly poisons.
