In the year 2065, humanity is fighting a seemingly hopeless war against extraterrestrial invaders. Earth is a wasteland and only a few forms of life have managed to survive. The army, under the leadership of General Hein, has developed a gigantic space cannon to destroy the aliens. Dr. Aki Ross and her mentor, Dr. Sid have taken a completely different approach to conquering the extraterrestrials: they are looking for the spiritual energies of eight life forms with which they hope to neutralize the aliens. But General Hein doesn't want merely to deploy the super-cannon, he also wants revenge on the aliens who killed his family. For Aki Ross, her mentor and the "Deep Eyes" combat unit, the search for the last "soul" becomes not only a life and death assignment, but also a race against time, as the general threatens to use the cannon.
