Desperate for more income, Becky seeks a bartending position at Casita Bonita, causing major concern for Dan due to her struggle with alcoholism. Meanwhile, Darlene finally nears a decision between David and Ben; and Harris' new friend, Odessa, means new trouble.

Halloween brings nothing but horror for Jackie after she uncovers a shocking secret when trying to reopen the Lunch Box; Mary gets upset when a woman assumes she is adopted; Darlene continues to deal with her complicated love life.

The Conners are back and dealing with the pandemic, and life’s financial troubles loom over the family. Dan is still trying to catch up on back-mortgage payments and avoid a potential eviction, while the Lunch Box is closed for everything but takeout and delivery.

Mary is devastated that Halloween has been canceled by the city, so Darlene and Becky enlist Jackie and the rest of the family to create an unforgettable experience. Meanwhile, Mark goes toe-to-toe with another kid at school who doesn’t believe in wearing a mask.

After Darlene's proposal to Ben is rejected, she wants to find out the reasons for her negative outlook on life. Her journey of self-discovery eventually leads her to Pastor Phil.

As part of her rehab programme, Becky has to apologise to people she has lied to over the years. In the meantime, Louise makes further plans for her wedding.

It is Dan and Louise's wedding day. But the path to the altar is apparently paved with stumbling blocks for the bride and groom. When a tornado is announced, the wedding is in danger of falling apart.

It's raining through the roof at the Conners'. Louise and Dan therefore cancel their honeymoon. To cheer them up, Becky surprises them with a virtual adventure trip around the world.
